Kate Ferguson is in her 12th year of teaching and 9th year as an instrumental music teacher in the Crestwood Local Schools. Prior to her assignment at Crestwood, she was the assistant band director at Cuyahoga Falls High School for 2 years. Ferguson earned her Masters in Music Education from the University of Akron in May 2004, and her Bachelor of Music Education from Kent State University in August 1998. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Music Education at Kent State University. Ferguson is actively involved in the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). She is currently serving as an OMEA District VI President, is a member of the State Board. Ferguson is an active OMEA Adjudicator and has also served OMEA by hosting High School Solo & Ensemble and Marching Band Adjudicated Events, as well as being a member of the 2003, 2006, and 2009 Professional Conference Planning Committee. Ferguson actively performs on her main instrument, trombone, with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve. Ferguson has been on the administrative staff for Matrix Indoor Percussion Ensemble since its conception in 1999. Her professional memberships include Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, Bands of America, International Association of Jazz Educators, and Delta Omicron.

Mr. Jacob Adkins, Assistant Marching
Band & JBII
Jacob Adkins is in his 10th year as a staff member with the Crestwood Band program. Adkins has worked extensively with numerous band programs around northeastern Ohio as a brass & visual clinician. Adkins also is currently a web designer for area high school bands and the OMEA District VI. Adkins attended Kent State University and his primary instrument of study was the Tuba. Jacob has been the recipient of the Eddie Calabrese Scholarship, Future Music Educator of the Year, Outstanding Service Award and Roy D. Metcalf Band Award. Jacob was a member of the National Intercollegiate Band in 2001, and the 2001-2002 OCMEA State Treasurer. His professional memberships include Ohio Music Education Association, Delta Omicron, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Adkins actively performs on her main instrument, tuba with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve.

Currently is
Assistant Director of Bands at Central
Crossing High School, Keith is an active
conductor, clinician, performer, and
adjudicator in and around Ohio and
western Pennsylvania. He serves as the
brass caption head for the Glassmen Drum
& Bugle Corps.
A native of Ohio, Keith was most
recently a Band Director in Bellingham,
Massachusetts, and served as part of the
music staff at Boston College where he
worked with the BC Marching Band and
instructed several music ensembles in
and around the greater Boston area. He
is also an active member of the National
Band Association, Ohio Music Educators
Association, and The International
Trombone Association.

This is Drew’s 5th
year working with the Crestwood Band
Program. Drew currently is pursuing his
masters degree from The University of
Akron in Social Work. Drew received his
Bachelors Degree from The Ohio State
University in the summer of 2007. Drew’s
primary instrument of study is the
Saxophone. Senkar is very active in the
marching idiom serving many schools
around the state in the capacity as a
visual and music instructor. Drew is an
alumnus of Brunswick High School.

This is Nick's 3rd year working with the Crestwood Bands as a low brass instructor. Zevchek is a 2009 graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Music Performance with his primary instrument of study the tuba. In the Fall 2009 Nick will be the graduate assisant for Tuba at the Unviersity of Akron. Nick is currently teaches private lessons to area schools. Nick is an alumnus of Brunswick High School..

Instructor Marching Band
This is Shawn's 3rd year as a percussion Instructor for the Scarlet Guard Marching Band. Logan serves many area marching bands in the capacity as a percussion instructor. Shawn is a former member of Matrix Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble world line and member of the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps. Shawn is currently a music performance major at Youngstown State University with an emphasis in percussion.

Mr. Barry Canan,
Visual Designer Marching Band Barry
Canan has been involved within the
pageantry arts for over 15 years.
This is Barry's 3rd year writing the visual package for the Crestwood Scarlet Guard Marching Band. He has designed drill for marching bands and color guards throughout the Mid West and South as well as being and active adjudicator for fall and winter pageantry. Barry received his Bachelors of Education in Music from Bowling Green State University and marched with the World Class Finalist Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps from Canton Ohio. He currently serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Indoor Performance Association as well as ca Colorguard adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association.

Rob Ferguson, Percussion & Visual

Percussion
Rob Ferguson has been involved with the Crestwood Band Program for the past 10 years as the visual and musical designer for the Scarlet Guard Marching Band. Ferguson also serves on the percussion faculty and is the assistant marching band director at Youngstown State University. In addition to his teaching, he is an active composer, arranger and designer in both the indoor and outdoor marching activities. Ferguson has been a guest soloist and clinician on marimba at many universities and high schools in Ohio, Indiana, Texas and Pennsylvania. Ferguson holds both his bachelors and masters degrees in percussion performance from Kent State University. Rob is currently an endorser for Innovative Percussion, a design/sales representative for M&I Dancewear, and is serving his third term as a percussion representative to Mid East Performance Association Board of Directors. Ferguson has been a member of the Design team for the DCI top twelve finalist Drum and Bugle Corps the Glassmen since 2007.

Ms. Katie Rex, Colorguard Instructor Marching
Band
Katie Rex returns for her 3rd year as color instructor for the Scarlet
Guard. Her marching experience began in 1999 with Field High School and
has continued with such Independent Color Guards as Collage, Anthem, and
most recently Onyx World. Past teaching experience includes 4 years with
Copley High School and Katie is currently a color guard technician for
Norton High School. Katie is a Studio Art Major, with a Painting Minor
from the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art and anticipates
Graduating in the spring of 2009. She has used her painting abilities on
such winter guard floors as Collage 2005, Anthem 2006, 2008, and Onyx
World 2007, 2008, 2009. Also interested in the Graphic Arts, Katie is
the webmaster for both Onyx and the Ohio Indoor Performance Association

Stinson, Visual Consultant Marching Band
Dave Stinson returns to the Scarlet Guard for this 3rd season, and previously was the Color Guard Director in 2001. Dave is currently the Color Guard Director at Norton High School. In the past, he was also the Color Guard Caption Head for Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition, Dave has designed and directed Color Guard programs for bands in Ohio as well as Arizona. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps and is the Director of Artistry in Blue. Stinson is currently an Auxiliary adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association.
